What Do Land owners Really Own?

When you purchase a home what do you actually own? Of course there's all that square footage on the surface, but what about all the cubic space above and below your property? The simple answer is you own everything above and below. (The more complicated answer contains lots and lots of caveats.) I've looked around for a good explanation of what you own and don't own above and below the surface, and I've found the most complete and entertaining summary at this site.
